Pitman Camp Meeting: Tonight is the last service of the season at Pitman Grove.  Rev. Peter Jamieson from the Pitman UMC will be the speaker.  The service begins at 7:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome.

Midweek Bible Study will resume this Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. each week.  The group will be completing a study of Genesis.  Everyone is welcome and we encourage you to attend if you can.  Studying the Bible and praying together should be an important part of our lives!

Choir Rehearsal will also begin this Wednesday.  The group rehearses from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. each week and new members (especially men) are welcome!

Church Anniversary: RUMC will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Sunday, October 17th.  We are asking God for 150 people to give $150 each for our 150th anniversary. The money will be used in part to purchase a new church sign, which will be a permanent reminder of our 150 years of ministry – commemorating our past and leading us into the future.  Please clearly mark your check or donation “150th Anniversary Gift.”  Thank you for your faithful support.

Open Air Market: The 13th Annual Open Air Market will be held this Saturday, September 11th, from 8:00 – 12:00 noon.  There will be craft tables, game tables, yard sale tables, and a bake table.  It’s a fun day for everyone, so be sure to come out and support this event.  Breakfast items (donuts and bagels) and lunch (hot dogs and meatball sandwiches) will be for sale too.

We are looking for new gift items, glassware, jewelry, games and toys, linens, books and CDs to sell at the Yard Sale tables.  Please do not bring large appliances, large furniture, used stuffed animals, clothing or shoes.  If you have items to donate, please bring them to the church and put them downstairs in the old youth room on the floor.  The basement door will be unlocked every day from dawn to dusk.  The deadline for dropping off items will be Wednesday, September 8th, at 8:00 p.m.

Items will also be needed for the Bake Sale table.  Bring your baked goods early on Saturday morning.

Anyone interested in renting a space to set up a table should contact Sylvia Reed (478-2728) as soon as possible.  Cost is $20 per space.

All proceeds benefit the Building Fund.  Your help is needed!  All kinds of jobs will be available on Saturday (starting at 6:00 a.m.), so plan to come out and help.  See JoAnne Lewis (385-8197) to volunteer.

Sunday School Kick-Off Breakfast will be held next Sunday, September 12th.  All children age 3 through 6th grade are invited downstairs at 10:00 a.m. that day for breakfast!   Children are invited to move up to a new class that day if they are eligible.  Classes are divided as follows during the 10:30 service:

            Pre-K and Kindergarten

            1st, 2nd and 3rd Grades

            4th, 5th and 6th Grades

There is a sign-up sheet in the Coffee Room for anyone interested in helping to provide food (French toast sticks, juice, etc.) for the meal.

MYF Kick-Off Dinner will be held next Sunday, September 12th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Every 7th – 12th grader and their family is invited to the covered dish Hawaiian Luau dinner.  Fun and games for the whole family follow the meal.  Please sign up with Mildred Herman.

Pitman Manor Fall Clothing Sale will be held on Tuesday, September 14th, from 10:00 – 2:00.  Donations of good, clean clothing will be accepted at Pitman Manor on Monday, September 13th.

Holy Land 2011: The pastor is looking into a cruise through the Holy Land in March of 2011.  If you are interested, please plan to attend a meeting on September 13th to consider our options of dates and itinerary.

Anniversary Luncheon: If you are interested in helping with the luncheon to be served on October 17th, you are invited to attend a planning meeting on Tuesday, September 14th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Hall.  See Eleanor Madara if you have questions.

Church Conference Notes: Jim Stiles will be putting together a slide show of pictures taken throughout the year to show at our Church Conference in October.  If you have any you want included, please either give him prints or e-mail them to him at stiles.jjr2@verizon.net.  Deadline for pictures is September 26th.  All reports and forms, available on-line at GNJUMC.org, are due back to the pastor by September 19th at the latest.

Mark Your Calendar: The Odd Fellows are hosting a Night of Dinner and Music in our Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 25th, to benefit local charities.  The praise band from Glassboro UMC and our praise band, Sanctified, will be in concert.  Tickets will be $16 per person or $140 per table in advance and $18 at the door.

Grocery Certificates: Would you give $200 a year to the Building Fund if it didn’t cost you any money???  ShopRite grocery cards work just like cash, and we earn 5% on every dollar.  They are available from Karen Luttenberger, Sandy Russell, Jennifer Guht or Dot Reuter.  Please guard them as cash; they cannot be replaced if lost.

Lay Speakers Notes:

~ All Lay Speakers (Basic and Certified) must complete an annual report for Church Conference.  This form is available at GNJUMC.org and must be turned in to the pastor by September 19th.

~ Any Basic Lay Speaker wishing to become certified must attend classes, offered this year on Wednesday evenings during October in Quinton.  Registration is due by October 1st.  Details are available at the GNJUMC.org web site.
