This year’s VBS theme was “Inside
Out and Upside Down on Main Street.” Each evening, kids were
drawn into stories Jesus told about everyday people in everyday
situations. But His stories were anything but ordinary! Jesus
turned lives upside down and hearts inside out through parables
that challenged people to look at themselves and others in new
and unexpected ways. The Bible lessons we studied and the songs
we learned reflected this.
About
60 kids attended VBS here this year, and about 40 adults and
teenagers cooked, taught or helped throughout the week. We
thank all of our volunteers, parents and supporters! Everyone
had a great time and the kids learned a lot.
Each of the
five evening sessions focused on a quality we should develop:
gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, grace and faithfulness. The
schedule included an opening and closing program (where we
learned songs, saw a puppet show, listened to announcements and
prayed), then rotated between a Bible lesson, crafts, outdoor
play time and snack time. Our service project this year was the
most successful ever. We collected 1,941 non-perishable items
that were delivered to local charities. Thanks to everyone who
donated.
Special
thanks to:
~~Jennifer
Guht, our director for the past eight years, and Gillian Bruno
who will be taking over the job next year, and our team of
dedicated volunteers!
~~The LIFE
Class for again helping to pay for the tee-shirts and for
providing the dinners each night.
~~ShopRite
of Mullica Hill and Advantage Embroidery for their support.
Watch for next year’s VBS dates
to be announced.
